Michelle Madow - Vengeance (Transcend Time Saga #1.5.)

Je tu kratšia recenzia k Vengeance opäť v dvoch jazykoch :)

If you haven´t read Remembrance, don´t read the annotation. It contains spoilers.

How far would you go to get revenge?

When Chelsea Givens discovered that her ex-boyfriend Drew dumped her to be with her former best friend Lizzie, she'd never felt so betrayed in her life. Then her new friend Shannon tells her she can help set things right. Chelsea's willing to listen, but what Shannon wants her to believe -- that she shared a past life with Drew -- is impossible. And what she wants her to do to get him back … well, it's downright crazy.

Could Shannon be telling the truth? And if she is, what lengths will Chelsea go if it means making Lizzie pay?

Find out in Vengeance, the second part of the Transcend Time Saga.

*Vengeance is the short story that bridges the events in Remembrance and the final novel in the Saga.

In Vengeance we pick up right where Remembrance ended. Also the narrator changes from Lizzie to Chelsea, what was a nice change. I loved to see Chelsea´s point of view even when I didn´t agree with her.  The book is a short story a sequel to Michelle Madow´s Remembrance in the Transcend Time Saga.

Chelsea feels betrayed by her former best friend Lizzie. She can´t understand why the thing went so wrong for her. She tries to find answers and here comes Shannon in play. She offers Chelsea an explanation which is beyond her belief. But Chelsea agrees to give it a try.

Vengeance is pretty short, but it gives so much information away, that I kept wondering, how the story would continue. I understand Chelsea and her actions, but something tells me that this won´t end well, neither for her, nor for Lizzie or Drew. In this few pages Michelle managed to get mi intrigued and I kept on reading until the last sentence. Honestly I can tell that I wasn’t what I expected, but better.

In some parts the book left me with open mouth. I didn´t expect what happened. And now when it´s all mixed together I can’t wait for Timeless. After reading Remembrance I was clear how it ended and didn’t expect that the events would turn in different way, but after reading Vengeance I really don’t know how the story would continue and that´s a good thing.

In Remembrance I didn’t like Chelsea at all. But here I felt kinda sorry for her because she didn’t really understand what the reason is for Drew leaving her. By the end of Vengeance she persuaded herself that the things which she is doing are right, though she doesn’t know what consequences her actions will have.

To sum it all, Vengeance is a nice bridge between Remembrance and Timeless which makes you want to read the third installment immediately. Timeless would be published on 20th November. I really can´t wait to read it.

Michelle Madow - Remembrance /Transcend Time Saga #1/

Je tu moja prvá recenzia v angličtine. Prosím ospravedlňte chyby. Ďakujem autorke za poskytnutie e-booku na recenziu.

Lizzie Davenport has been reincarnated from Regency Era, England ... but she doesn't know it yet.

Then Drew Carmichael transfers into Lizzie's high school at the beginning of the year, and she feels a connection to him, almost like she knows him. She can't stop thinking about him, but whenever she tries talking with him about the mysteries behind her feelings, he makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with her. Reaching him is even more difficult because she has a boyfriend, Jeremy, who has started to become full of himself after being elected co-captain of the varsity soccer team, and her flirtatious best friend Chelsea starts dating Drew soon after his arrival. So why can't she get him out of her mind?

Even though Lizzie knows she should let go of her fascination with Drew, fighting fate isn't going to be easy

The first book of Transcend Time Saga is Michelle Madow’s debut novel Remembrance, which is a nice, sweet love story. It´s based on the music video of Taylor Swift´s Love story. I was immediately drawn into reading the book, because I really like Taylor´s music. At first I didn´t know what to expect from it. It captured me with the annotation. The thought of reincarnation is really fascinating to me. The story is nothing new and it´s predictable, but I really love how Michelle wrote it. I didn´t get bored during reading and I was eager to know if the characters would act like I thought they would.

We meet Elizabeth Davenport, a normal teenage girl, who has a normal life, best friend Chelsea and boyfriend Jeremy. She lives her usual life, until one day, when the gorgeous Andrew Carmichael transfers to her school. She immediately feels a strong connection to him, although she has never seen him.  She doesn´t want to allow herself to think of him, but it´s impossible, because she feels pulled toward him. He makes it clear, that he doesn´t want anything to do with her. But Lizzie starts to have flashback from her previous life and discovers that Drew plays a huge part in it.

This kind of story was already told several times, but Michelle gave it a new sparkle. For me it was really a beautiful love story. To be honest, I´m a romantic and the book made my heart do backflips. I kept my fingers crossed for Drew and Lizzie, though I knew, how it would end with them.

When you read one kind of story from different authors and you get to read another book about it, you look for some differences. In the beginning, I thought that at some moments I would be bored, because there are really many books with this topic. But luckily I didn’t. The book is so well written, that you won´t find hollow places, because the story flows fluently. There is really no action, but that doesn’t keep you from enjoying the book.

The characters are not shallow and you find yourself liking them or hating them. Lizzie is not the type of character who can´t do thing on her own. She doesn’t need to a guy, who would tell her what to do. She´s good on her own and can make decisions without someone telling her what to do. I really like her character. Now, there´s Chelsea as well. To be honest, I didn’t really get to like her during this book. I understand that she feels betrayed, when the truth hits the surface. But on the opposite side she is or better said was a good friend to Lizzie. Jeremy is Lizzie´s boyfriend. For me he was annoying since he first appeared in the story. He made fun of Lizzie, embarrassed her in front of the others. When he became the co-captain of the football team he is full of himself. He pushes Lizzie to the side and hangs out with his teammates. I really don’t like him. It´s not like I would hate him, but he was a total jerk in the whole book. For me Drew is that kind of character who readers fall in love with. He is nice, thoughtful, good-looking and sweet. Sometimes I didn’t like his decisions, but he made it because he was afraid that the past would repeat.

When you´re looking for a story to relax and don’t need action, you definitely should read Remembrance. It´s well written story by young author Michelle Madow. The book is a typical love story and it´s predictable, but I pretty much enjoyed it. I would definitely read the sequel.

Many thanks to Michelle Madow for sending me an e-copy of the book for review.
